Awarded design for the emblem of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), The Hague.
The logo, designed as a pictogram-like symbol, represents the universal “stop” sign. It combines a handprint (symbolising humanity) and a retort (symbolising chemistry). The retort is rotated 180 degrees, switching it off and thereby “neutralising” its potential danger. The open hand additionally symbolises international cooperation and peacefulness.
